New distance tracking on New Expensify!

Distance tracking is quietly one of Expensify's most powerful and most adopted features. Entire companies are based on distance tracking alone. Millions of road warriors travel the streets every day, generating expenses based on the IRS rate with the need to get paid back. To be the leading expense tracking software requires great distance tracking. It should be table stakes, but many expense companies don't take it seriously enough. At Expensify, we understand this need, and thus, invest heavily in our distance tracking features.

Sure, Expensify is best known for our SmartScan technology, smart corporate card, and robust integrations. But tens of thousands of our members rely on our distance tracking software every single month. Check out our reviews on the app store and you will see many people use us for distance alone. That's why we're so excited to announce that our members can use distance tracking on New Expensify!

To review, New Expensify boasts a chat-first approach to expense and financial management. This approach gives small businesses a dramatically simpler way to run their back-office. Instead of managing complex financial software, New Expensify makes every expense a conversation. Distance tracking is just the latest addition to the recent feature releases for New Expensify. Recent releases include Expensify Chat, manual expense creation, automated receipt scanning, and more coming soon.

Expensify Classic, as we refer to it internally, has long been known as a market leader in distance tracking with features like GPS tracking, a Google Maps integration, custom rates, and real-time distance submission. New Expensify takes distance tracking to the next level. The distance tracking feature on New Expensify uses map generator Mapbox for a refreshed interface. Additionally, the chat-first interface makes for much easier interactions between colleagues at the time of submission. Check it out for yourself here:

Isn't it pretty? Expensify launched this feature at the Small Business Expo in Los Angeles. As part of the launch, thousands of conference attendees were allowed to use the new distance feature and submit the expense to Expensify to get paid back. The activation gave us early adopters and incredible feedback on how we can continue to improve the feature. As expected, users loved the new updates. Many more features will continue to be launched over the next few months and into next year.

In addition to distance tracking, Expensify seamlessly integrates with leading ridesharing apps, rail companies, and airlines for easy transportation expensing. Explore all of Expensify's partner integrations here.

Distance tracking is a core piece of expense management, so we're excited to bring it to New Expensify. We'll be continuing to launch new features on New Expensify for the foreseeable feature so be on the lookout for more releases. Ready to take the new distance feature for a spin?
